My name is Cassandra Kirkpatrick and I’m the Owner/Operator of Jungle Out There Pet Services.
I officially opened Jungle Out There Pet Services on September 1, 2015, after my husband Richard and I had struggled to find professional in-home pet care for our own animals.
As far back as I can remember I have always adored animals. I was blessed to be born into a family that shared this passion and taught me to respect animals from a young age. Any animal who found his way into our home had a home for life. I still remember bringing home the class hamster Patches, who was just supposed to live with us over the summer, and he never left!

It seemed natural to pursue my love for animals so in university I earned a BSA, majoring in Animal Science. I obtained extensive knowledge of domestic animals and had many opportunities to work hands-on with small and large animals. After graduating, I worked with poultry and cattle farms across Southern Alberta. During this time I gained valuable hands-on experience working with commercial and urban chickens earning myself the nickname “Super Chicken Girl!”. I am passionate about promoting the humane treatment of all animals and in 2013 I became a certified Poultry Welfare Auditor through PAACO.
Over the years, I have had many amazing opportunities to gain experience with a variety of animals and have become an animal advocate. These experiences include volunteering at a vet clinic, working at daycare/boarding facilities, and volunteering for different animal rescue organizations in various roles.
In 2011, my husband and I moved to the Town of High River where we lived for 7 years with our 4 dogs, flock of backyard hens, and rabbit. In 2018, we bought our dream acreage outside of High River where we now share our life with 2 dogs, 7 cats, 2 cows, 5 sheep, a potbelly pig, a miniature donkey, a miniature horse, 5 ducks, 2 guinea fowl, 4 rabbits, a bearded dragon, and too many chickens to count! When I’m not busy with my business or taking care of our zoo, I enjoy being involved with organizations in our community including Pet Therapy at the High River Hospital and Alberta Farm Animal Care.
I understand your pets are a member of your family and it gives you peace of mind knowing your pet is receiving the same affection, love, and care that you provide them. I have a soft spot for special needs pets and have experience with post-surgical care, allergies, administering eye and ear drops, cleaning wounds, special diets (including raw), finicky eaters, handling emergencies, administering fluids and injections, and handling complex medication schedules. You can rest assured knowing that your pet will be given the very best care while you are away!
I look forward to meeting you and your pet!
